Butterfly Card

Here's a card I made using my latest new die I just purchased. I just love the border these butterflies make.

This was an easy card to make and I just happened to have the perfect stamp and sentiment to go along with the die cut. I stamped and embossed  the butterfly and sentiment and then colored in the butterfly using colored pencils. Added a few drops of Carnation Pink Nuvo Crystal Drops and had a card full of dimension.

Merry Christmas

We've got a mini crop going on over at Creative Inspiration. One of the challenges was Out with the Old and In with the New, meaning to use something old and new on your layout. Here's mine:

All the printed papers here are very old, probably 10 years or more. The new are the watercolors and the sequins. I also managed to clear out some of my leftover diecuts and fussy cutting pieces.
Stop by and check out our mini crop challenges and play along with us. There is a prize!!

Winter Card

We've got a mini crop going on over at Creative Inspiration and one of the challenges theme's was Winter Wonderland. I decided to make a card.

I used some Distress Oxides for the background and spritzed it lightly with water. Cut out some white cardstock for the snowy hills and added the silver tree and deer stickers. The stars were stamped using silver ink along with the sentiment.

Thank You Card

I've been playing along with an online crop at Stick It Down on Facebook today and my first project was this card.

And here's the sketch

I started with a stencil and some modeling paste for the background. Then using some Distress Oxide Inks, I did the smooshing technique to add the pink and green. Added the silver foil thank you sticker to some black cardstock to really make it pop and tied some twine around the bottom.

Birthday Girl

Here's a layout I did for one of the challenges over at the Creative Inspiration Mini Crop. The theme was birthdays. This is my youngest granddaughter. For some reason these are the only photos I can find of her birthday. I'm guessing it was just a crazy day and photos didn't get taken of the cake and presents. But I decided to include them in her album anyway.

Celebrate Summer

I'm up today on the Sketches in Thyme blog with a bit of a summer themed layout. I've had enough of all the holiday and winter projects and thought maybe a summer one would warm me up! lol

Here's the sketch we are working with this week

Mine really went off in a different direction from the sketch. I was really inspired by the background but I still didn't follow the sketch. That's the beauty of sketches and I love seeing how everyone interprets sketches differently. Stop by our blog each day this week and see all the different takes on this sketch and play along with us.

Celebrate Card

I've got a challenge up at Creative Inspiration today. It's a card sketch challenge and it's a great sketch. You can do so much with this sketch.

Here's the sketch

For my card I used some watermark ink and stamped flourishes all around and left the center blank so I could stamp the sentiment. I also embossed the sentiment to make it stand out more. Then just added the lace trim and the flower with a dot of purple stickles in the center. Clean and simple!

I hope you'll stop by Creative Inspiration and play along with us. We have all sorts of fun challenges going on!

Summer Colors

I've got an Inspiration Challenge up at Creative Inspiration today. I was getting tired of working with all the holiday and winter colors so I decided to use some summer colors as my inspiration. Here's my summer layout.

And here's the inspiration

I pretty much used everything from the inspiration photo on my layout. I loved the mix of bright colors so I used several different colors of plain cardstock and tore the edges. I was going for a kind of wave effect, not sure I really achieved it, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it! I used a wave stencil and did an ombre effect using 3 different shades of blue ink. The rest is just different ephemera I found in my stash. I also added one of the beach tags from our trip to Ocean City, NJ.

If you'd like to play along with the challenge please visit us at Creative Inspiration. We have lots of fun challenges going on and would love to have you join in!

Thinking of You

I've got a challenge up at Creative Inspiration today. I was looking for tutorials using Distress Oxide Inks and found a great one on Split Coast Stampers.
Here's the link to their tutorial www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/watercolorimprints/.

I took a piece of watercolor paper and inked it up using 2 different colors of Distress Oxide Inks. I sprayed it with water and placed a stencil on top of it and let it dry. Waiting for it to dry was the hardest part because you don't want to lift up the stencil before it's dry. (Believe me, I tried it!) Once it's dry, remove the stencil carefully because the stencil is still full of ink. You can mist another piece of paper and reuse the stencil and you'll get a lighter version of the 1st one. Then I just added the sentiment and stamped image. I love this technique!
